Part 1: inspired by Gary Winogrand's Women are beautiful

To start of my collection of photographs in the style of Garry Winogrand I have created to pictures inspired by his collection Women are beautiful. In this collection women in ordinary situations are photographed, either posing or naturally. One picture that struck me the most was this image of a woman walking because of the skewed horizon line and the fact that her walk is more of a pose than an actual movement. I tried to convey the same sense of stillness and motion utilizing the motion blur tool, I took still shots but gave them a fake motion Another was this image of a woman in a phone booth. The picture is tilted however because of the position of the women it looks like the tilt is real and she is accommodating it. I left two of my images in black and white but left parts of the others in color.

Photoshop drawing based on a Photoshoot.

Technically, what I have posted is not a photograph, however it is inspired by one. The actual picture was taken from a photoshoot of musician Elly Jackson (who has an awesome band by the way). I thought the image was particularly striking in the lighting, composition and color arrangement. I did not want to replicate it but rather transfer the feeling of the image into a drawing. I chose to make it simple with minimal lines to convey the feeling of minimalism. Instead of adapting the exact colors I took the idea of sparse seperated color and played with it on the eyes and jacket lining.

New York: post 1

This is a small cropped portion of a larger image of New York. I decided to crop it to give a more panoramic-like view and to isolate the scene I liked. Then in photoshop I reduced the saturation except in some parts and in others gave it a yellow/red tint. I cropped it even further so half the scene is under the scaffold with a black background and scattered color and they other is relatively grey with no color. I made the crossing sign the focal point with a bright yellow color
